Global Solo Design Project
Problem Statement:
Independent travel is on the rise and it means different things to different people. Independent travel doesn’t necessarily mean you are a solo traveler, you could be traveling in a pair or a small group. Perhaps independent travel can be summarized as a form of travel where a person/group is brave enough to create their own journey into areas that fall outside the historic industry standards of hotels and pre-arranged tours.
Unfortunately, many travelers have safety concerns that are not readily addressed by travel guides and apps. There are lots of tour groups that craft safe group experiences but at a cost. They cater to an affluent market and often have an old-fashioned institutional vibe. Solo travelers are usually financially penalized and have to pay a higher rate than couples or families and this is often not possible or sustainable.
How can we help solo travelers plan trips and provide reliable information and resources they need to make their trips as worry free and as safe as possible?

Background
This product idea would be an app to help guide women and LGBTQ+ individuals through travel safety. This was a group project for a UX design class.
Goals
To create a prototype for a hypothetical app by conducting user research and implementing it in the form of an XD prototype.
My role
I worked on the XD prototype with Alberto Caiceido, as well as assisting with user research and usability testing.
